In this post, I have reviewed articles from Zia Mohyeddin, SAJ Shirazi, Saim Baig, Asma, Faisal K, Babar Bhatti and Shakir Lakhani published at Baithak, Light Within, Saim’s blog, Pink Feelings, Deadpan thoughts, Pakistaniat and Chowrangi.
In this column, Zia Mohyeddin at Baithak (this column was written for Daily Jang originally) proposes a national theatre and in its support he says, “Theatre and myth help us to understand the mysteries of life — birth and death, love and hate, revenge and forgiveness.” To him the national theatre will stage quality dramas and actors will be seasoned and very well trained. In this context he writes, “The National Theatre will have a permanent company of the best trained actors appearing in a wide repertoire of first-rate plays. This is bound to set up a chain reaction that will encourage a grid of subsidized smaller theatres in other cities.” Nice idea but here I want to put forward one thing. Today, while chatting with a public servant friend of mine who has experience of working in private sector too, I asked about the difference between private and public sectors. His response was interesting, he said that in private sector you need to work a lot and get paid for what you do but in public sector, you can earn more than you worth; in fact public sector is best for those who don’t know how to work. Now let’s project this experience of my friend on the proposal of Mr. Zia Mohyeddin who is advocating the national theatre and other subsidized outlets of art. If for instance, such a national theatre is started, how things will be? A Minister might send a third rate actor with his chit for accommodating him as a permanent performer among others, how one will ensure quality then? If he gets to the position of director, will he be worthy enough to direct any play of Intzar Hussain? I think never. So, what to expect out of a national theatre in
SAJ Shirazi is around with a new idea of monetizing the blog with NetAudioAds; I tried it and signed it up to run the ads on my blogs too. It’s interesting and rewarding and you can join it here. For the original post by Shirazi at Light Within, click here.
AVG has launched its 8.0 beta version for public testing with additional options. I read about this launch at Saim’s blog, if you are interested in knowing more about the options included in this version find the post by Saim Baig here.
People announce their birthdays in many different ways but the way Asma announced her big day is incredible. Want to know how? Click here, between, a very happy birthday to you Asma!
I found this very good post at Thatta Kedona giving a visual presentation of how dolls and toys are made with bare hand. I enjoyed seeing three pictures of this process and hope you will enjoy it too.
For writers, finding a unique voice called diction is very valuable. For many it takes life time to find one and some move towards this excellence from beginning. The first time Faisal k of Deadpan thoughts commented on some post on my blog, I started reading him and I come to like his thoughts. For all the reading I have done of this blogger, I find him on a course that leads to heights provided he keeps writing. Recently, I found one such beautifully knit post on his blog providing the analysis of the menace of so called clash of civilizations. He has beautifully taken up the matter with special reference to Islam and west. If you want to have a look at the post I am referring to, click here.

For many the death penalty should not be there. The debate about is on for years and one can find it going back in history for quite sometime. Both groups, in favor and against the abolishing of death penalty have their logical arguments. Shakir Lakhani has also taken up this question of abolishing death penalty in this post at Chowrangi. He appears favoring the notion that death penalty is no good and he has his own reason to believe so.
