Today, I went General Post Office, Saddar, Karachi for sending a fax money order to a friend. Everything went well and at the time of getting receipt, I asked for the charges. The guy on the counter asked for 120 rupees only. I gave him away the amount and he handed me the receipt. I went away with it but a thought came to me mind to check, if he has charged me the right amount? I checked it and he over charged me 20 rupees. I went back to him asked for it and he handed over the money to me. It was not about the 20 rupees but something else that pinched me.
Having gone through all this, I am thinking that how honest we are! It was me, an educated individual who thought to check it out and caught the culprit but what to talk of all those poor illiterate soul who use to get robbed everyday without knowing it. Alas! the sorry state of our public sector….
