Can’t they see?

The country is facing lots of challenges but those who use to raise their voice are shunned. We are not being heard and if the government at some place takes survey to gauge the situation in the country and the outcome is in contrast with the requirement of the ruling junta, it adopts the policy of turning the results confidential. How long we will be refused of a right to know? Today it’s the age of transparency and we still are living in the medieval times when it was imperative for the governments to make mystery out of any issue if thought counter productive to the society. Today we claim ourselves a progressing economy but don’t we know that the ground realities are all the same? No change, nothing! Is it the progress we are making? Progress in forced disappearance is called progress? Progress in deaths and violence? According to government’s recently published annual progress report for 2005-06, 64 per cent people in the country are dissatisfied with the standards of basic services and over 40 per cent have negative perception about schools. These are only two aspects that are researched or say made public after research but what to talk about numerous issues on which the people are not happy with the government. Can’t they see that this dissatisfaction is translating itself in anger that is leaving this country violent every day?
