Where 25 percent of the population lives below poverty line and around 75 percent with a dollar per day, where government spends no more than one percent of its budget on health sector, a tower containing health facilities of international standards for affluent only will be like making mockery of the poor. It is expected that this 14 storey building in the premises of Pakistan institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) will cost Rs. 2 billion of tax payer’s money and will be accessible to elite only.
While moving around in Karachi it feels like life is hell for the poor. Having seen all the fun activities of politicians in my beloved country I assume that poor, for parliamentarians, are not worth living, on the extreme I don’t know even if they think these masses belong to Homo sapiens.
Alas! Every night when I cross the crowded area of Saddar Karachi, I happen to see the brazen face of poverty prevalent in the eyes of street dwellers. They try injecting themselves with strong narcotics to get away with the life and they don’t need doctors to cure them of chronic poverty the have been facing for decades. I want to ask what good will be done to them to them by operating another such tower that Prime Minister Aziz have announced to be built in premises of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) at Karachi at cost Rs 3.418 billions? In government records show that the economy is stable and progressing but seems it is only in the ledgers of concerned department only. Why don’t we try to come out of euphoria to deal this situation, we have our justification and we are experts in blaming system. Let’s step ahead and try making some difference in our own spheres, let’s not behave like we have kept behaving… Atleast, we can reject these weakness by voicing our concern loud! Let’s say it loud….

Very impressive post ; you are 100% right but what i think is that weather we raise voice or not nothing is gonna happen, We should start helping poor ourselves and stop looking forward at Govt. Why not i if i can help at least one poor out of his poverty
In this way we should start helping poor and stop waiting for others including Govt.
what do you say
You are right, I think is we follow the Islamic System of Charity strictly we can do away with many such issue. I will not agree with you when you say that raising voice cant do anything, bro it can make miracles I have seen lots of such instances. Moreover we need honest govt. for regulatory functions. All these things can complement each other and produce synergestic effect.
Interesting post here … and yah seriously walking on constitution avenue actually makes you sick seeing replicas of shahi qilla made by todays mughal badshahs … utter wastage of what the nation pays in taxes … ad yah I agree to this idea of charity since it’s part of islamic teachings as well for wealth’s equall sharing in each class of the society … and for every thing looking at govt is also not good … we have our responsibilities too …!
